We are a fear free dog grooming business, dedicated to providing your pet with a calm positive grooming experience.
About Us
I have dedicated 20 yrs and counting, learning and studying canines. How these precious beings have evolved and became members of our family. Even though they live with us, cuddle in our beds and take family road trips, they don't speak our language. Dogs communicate through energy and body language. I've spent many years teaching humans how to communicate with their dogs in a "language" they both can understand.
I am a Mentor/Instructor for Dog Trainers, and expand my training so they can share my methods and help more families. We've trained and certified service dogs, therapy dogs, diabetes alert dogs. We save dogs lives by giving them a chance to learn and understand our "language" to reverse unwanted behaviors. We help having a dog as a member of the family be a joyful lifetime experience.
While on this journey, I was frequently asked to advise on grooming. I couldn't believe the stories about my students acting so badly at the groomers and how fearful they were.
Dog training and grooming are the perfect match! Knowing canine behavior and proper ways to communicate with them, reduces the chances of fear that can lead to trauma. Once your dog has trauma to being groomed it is extremely difficult to reverse the experience.
Trauma can come from anywhere it doesn't mean your groomer was harmful of ruff. Your dog could be in a "fear period". At certain stages in growing dogs have high sensitivity, to sounds and experiences. They may have been startled by the start of the dryer and scared them. Now every time they hear a dryer sound, its associated with fear.
Similar to how most dogs react to vacuum cleaners, they have never been sucked up or ran over, but every time you turn it on, they react in fear or want to eat it.
I use Tellington TTouch massage techniques to calm your pet when they are in a state of fear or panic. TTouch massage can be used for multiple things such as health, behavior, anxiety and more (can also be used on horses and other animals). Once your dog is no longer fearful, you can introduce your tools and build trust. It does take time, and some dogs require more patients than others. That may included several visits to finish one groom. I don't believe in "get the job done". I specialize in fear free and work on dogs that have trauma. Each dog in my care will receive a positive experience.
Choosing and trusting a groomer can be scary. You can rest assured that your dog with be in the best care mentally and physically.
